MESH Club & Brand Partners Cultivate Entrepreneurship

16. 16. 2018

The time to grow the economy is now, and in a show of solidarity in cultivating entrepreneurship and, ultimately, driving economic growth, Standard Bank, Mercedes-Benz and Pernod-Ricard have joined the MESH community as brand partners.

MESH, nestled in the Keyes Art Mile precinct in Rosebank, is the go-to space for young creatives, entrepreneurs and established captains of industry to gather in a stimulating environment to meet, work and socialize – network, connect and create.

The intention behind the brand collaboration is to not only elevate South African entrepreneurship but drive home the message that South Africans can accomplish anything when working together.

“The time for talk is over,” said Jonathon Meyer, MESH Club CEO and Founder at the brand partner announcement last week. “The time to act is now, and with partnerships like these we are showing the global community that South Africa is ready to step forward in the right direction.”

To mark the corporate alignment, MESH Club awarded three entrepreneurs a MESH membership for the next year, giving them access to the MESH community, including opening doors to mentorship opportunities with the three brand partners.

The three entrepreneurs are Bheki Dube, co-founder of Curiocity and Mukondi Ralushayi and Nkgabiseng Motau, co-founders of Think Creative Hub.

Bheki is a passionate entrepreneur that has grown his business into two successful urban hostels in Johannesburg and Durban. He is passionate about creating authentic travel experiences in the inner cities of SA.

Mukondi and Nkgabiseng are passionate about creating diversity and choice for companies that traditionally rely on an industry that is dominated by big multi-national agencies. A real David meets Goliath story.

MESH Club and its brand partners are very excited to have these entrepreneurs join the community, and for the various exciting initiatives and small- to medium-business ideas that MESH members, new and existing are working on – all in a bid to drive South Africa, and its economy forward.

“As Africa’s biggest bank, Standard Bank’s support of the MESH Club is aligned to our unwavering commitment to driving Africa’s growth through educating, creating, empowering and helping nurture entrepreneurs across the continent. With our extensive footprint across more than 20 African countries, and internationally in Mauritius, London, Isle of Man and Jersey, together with our deep and historic expertise across personal, business and commercial and wealth markets only strengthens our ability to support and fuel the ambitions of the entrepreneurs who are founding the businesses of tomorrow and will ultimately rise to be the leaders of our future. - ” said Kabelo Makeke, Gauteng Provincial Head for Standard Bank Retail and Business Banking. “

For Mercedes Benz, the partnership is about driving entrepreneurship, by allowing MESH Club members the opportunities to fast-track through networking. “At Mercedes-Benz South Africa we’re focused on creating and sustaining long-term collaborative relationships with partners such as Mesh Club that promote innovation and enterprise development.  We believe that partnerships of this nature are the formulae to accelerating the essence of entrepreneurship in South Africa,” said Mr Selvin Govender - Mercedes-Benz Cars South Africa Marketing Director.

George Novitskas, Prestige Key Account Manager at Pernod Ricard said, "As the “creators of conviviality” and a belief in building lasting relationships, the respected Pernod Ricard tradition continues to be carried forward with vibrancy and passion in supporting MESH Club to develop and build entrepreneurship in South Africa. Entrepreneurial spirit is a key part of Pernod Ricard’s philosophy due to the decentralized nature of the Group, Managers are rewarded for their leadership, ability to embrace responsibility and take measured risks. Pernod Ricard is very proud to be a key partner to MESH club and we look forward to a continued partnership not only to encourage entrepreneurship, but to also affirm Pernod Ricard’s Luxury portfolio within South Africa."
